Get to know, Metropolis Soap Company

So this is how it usually goes... Customer walks into Beehive (no this is not going to be a bad joke) and inevitably will say, "It smells so good in here!"  Somewhere between the Green Tea/Agave soy candles and the Chamomile/ Lavender soaps Beehive becomes a soothing aromatherapy-filled shopping experience. This all in thanks to Megan the procurer and Main-Lady-In-Charge behind the Brooklyn-based Metroplis Soap Company.  Learn about Megan  and what motivated her to start a vegan skincare line.

What do you design/make, & what materials do you use?
We create 100% vegan artisan skincare using natural ingredients, free of parabens, sulfates, and pthalates.

When did you start crafting your line?
I originally began in 2004 after receiving a lip balm kit from my Mom. I had a cousin who had pretty serious food allergies so our family had to become educated on what we were putting in our bodies pretty quickly. From there it just transitioned into skincare for me...what was I putting on my body and how was it affecting me? The lip balm kit begat other products and from there Metropolis Soap was born.

Is this your full-time gig? If not, how do you make time to create in your hectic life?
It's my full-time gig! That doesn't mean there are enough hours in the day to get everything done.

What are you working on right now?
Metropolis just launched an exciting new line of soy candles (that are available at the Beehive Designer Collective now!) so I'm very excited about that. Our next product launch is just in the early research phase so nothing is set in stone yet. Stay tuned!
